ACCOUNTING MANAGER

 


PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To assist the Finance function in capturing financial and non-financial data, turning data into actionable information and reporting, timely and accurately, to stakeholders to improve overall results. This includes preparation of scorecards, daily and weekly reporting, month end reporting and reconciliations and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

This position is located in our New Hope, MN office. It is not a remote position.

Pay Range - $80,000 - $120,000 depending upon qualifications.

DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY DUTIES

• Work closely with the CFO in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department.

• Oversee daily accounting functions, including guiding day-to-day transactions and journal entries.

• Prepare monthly financial analysis reports and assist in month-end close and reconciliation of accounts.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including inventory and accounts payable

• Prepare period sales reporting, capturing profitability and performance trends within the business.

• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems for all production and finished good items.

• Monitor, prepare and review production data to create ongoing scorecards, productivity tools and ad hoc analysis

• Review and follow-up on production variances, with members of the organization and identify/solve root cause issues.

• Assist CFO in budgeting and forecasting processes.

• Analyze and report any inventory adjustments, valuation impacts or issues of materiality.

• Create the overhead department budgets for use in the costing systems and review the monthly spending with department managers

• Understand and monitor the accounts payable function to ensure the process is documented, implemented and followed by all

• Become a SME and a super user on the company’s ERP and other supporting systems used to measure performance as well as training others on these systems

• Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles & company procedures.

• Assist in the preparation of year-end review schedules and other documentation.

• Special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• Strong PC and spreadsheet skills, including pivot tables and advanced formulas

• Strong problem-solving abilities

• Detail orientated

• Ability to analyze complex data

• Ability to communicate well with all levels of management

• Ability and initiative to implement process improvements

• Ability to work under tight timelines and prioritize activities.

• Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness

• Understanding of GAAP

Desirable

• Manufacturing and cost experience

• General ledger and month-end close experience

• Advanced data analytical skills such as Power BI or other business intelligence tools.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting

• At least five years of relevant work experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Sit for extended periods of time, ability to type, talk and communicate, visual ability to use a computer and calculator, infrequent bending for filing, frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs.

WORKING ENVIROMENT: Typical office working conditions: inside, climate controlled.
