Forklift Operator
Hours: 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. This position may include overtime hours.
Hourly Rate: $21.00
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Manage warehouse storage and material flow to and from production lines. Perform line worker tasks as needed during light production schedules.
DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY DUTIES
Forklift
· Operate a sit-down and stand-up forklift.
· Load and unload trucks in a timely manner.
· Complete paperwork and trailer inspections for all inbound/outbound trailers.
· Use forklift to move pallets to and from pallet racking.
· Support order pickers and production line with a consistent flow of product.
· Ensure all products are taken from warehouse slots or bins using FIFO/FEFO
· Use an RF scanner to move and track inventory.
· Operate pallet wrapper.
· Complete inventory checks and cycle counts as needed.
Inventory
· Track all material movement in the ERP.
· Follow FIFO for items moved to production lines.
· Follow allergen aliment for all items moved to the warehouse.
· Store pallets per our warehouse policy.
· Flag any inventory discrepancies to leads/supervisors.
· Perform cycle counts as needed.
· Follow company rules/polices around quarantine and QC pending items
Receiving
· Unload trucks and inspect material for damage.
· Verify pallet, Case and pounds received with shipping paperwork.
· Check in product by item number, lot number and quantity received.
· Separate materials by item and lot number.
· Communicate with supervisor, leads and other team members to ensure daily receiving schedule is met.
Line fulfillment
· Review the production schedule to identify the number of operational production lines.
· Transfer raw materials, WIP, and packaging materials to the production line according to the forklift stock list.
· Verify item numbers and system lot against the ERP system before delivering materials.
· Move finished goods from the production line to the DC staging area once pallets are completed.
· Transfer WIP items from the processing area to the Warehouse racks while adhering to allergen alignment and warehouse storage policy.
· Assist in transferring super sacks of raw material from pallets onto the appropriate processing racks/stands.
Line Worker Duties include:
BOXING/PACKING:
· Maintain a smooth minimum rate of 30 to 45 bags per minute while boxing product to keep up with machine speed.
· Verify for proper packing pattern, correct code date, seal integrity, hanger hole, zipper function, and overall appearance while packing.
· Fill cases or trays with the correct number of packages
PALLETIZING:
· Ensure printed labels are centered and straight on the cases.
· Ensure correct product information is on the label and correct code date is on the label from printer.
· Shrink wrap and tag finished pallets.
· Inform operator/supervisor of any product or material issues.
· Palletize product neatly to specified pile off patterns. Requires frequently lifting of 12 - 20 lbs. and occasionally up to 35 lbs.
· NOTE—Palletizing may need to be performed on more than one line.
Miscellaneous
· Perform sanitation tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment
· Maintain good communication with leads and supervisors
· Responsible for completing accurate paperwork.
· Work flexible work hours to meet shipping, receiving and production schedule needs.
· Perform other related tasks as directed.
· Maintain confidentiality with all information.
· Monitor storage trailer temperature.
· Lift and move boxes up to 55 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS
***Essential
· Must pass forklift operation and safety test.
· Have basic math skills, including use of calculator.
· Able to understand and follow all procedures both written and verbal.
· Able to operate all hand and powered jacks.
· Able to complete all paperwork neatly.
· Excellent reading and number identification skills and able to read, write, and speak English
· Able to enter data into handheld computer accurately.
***Education and/or Experience
· High School Education or GED.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasionally: Use ladder to take apart weight scales
Kneel/crawl to check materials and machines
Reach above shoulder height to load zipper stock
Lift/carry up to 50 lbs and over 50 lbs with help.
Push/pull up to 2200 lbs. of raw materials on a pallet with a pallet jack
Regularly: Stoop/bend to pick up rework, boxes, and roll stock; Climb stairs to the mezzanine level and above the packaging machines; Twist while doing rework and dumping raw material; Frequently: Use hands, Talk/hear in order to give direction
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
· Typical warehouse environment, moving equipment, potential exposure to loud noises, potential congested areas during peak production season.
